T’is the season for guests from afar…
All the way from Tactic, Guatemala!
Usually it is us who hop on a plane and fly to Guatemala to see the people we have come to know and love. This fall it has been our privilege to be on the receiving end, to welcome and host a few guests from Tactic, Guatemala! How wonderful to speak Spanglish and have many good laughs together.
In November, we enjoyed a visit with Ruth and Walter and their two children! It was great fun for us to host Impact Ministries staff and volunteers in the Calgary area for an evening of much laughter and even tears as we shared around the table. We marvel together at this awesome privilege to serve God together through Impact Ministries.
In November, we also had Les Peters stay with us while he was in Calgary. Les spoke at our Calgary Friends of Impact event, and many were deeply encouraged to hear of the truly amazing things that God is doing in Guatemala.
To get December started, we welcomed Christy and Angel David and enjoyed an evening with fellow staff member, Shelly Goosen, and her family. The next morning, Christy and Angel went to Bearspaw Christian School, where Don teaches, to share with the Grade five classes and to visit with many others. It was like the tables were turned, and it was our distinct privilege to show them our school, just as they have done so many times for us in Guatemala.
And all the way from Sarnia, Ontario!
Now as we get into some of the coldest days so far this year, we enjoyed a family reunion of sorts as our nieces and nephews visited us from Ontario. We so enjoyed meeting our two newest family members, our great nephew, baby Declan, and our great niece, baby Everly. We were absolutely thrilled to be together with family from Ontario after many years!
So, as we prepare for the Christmas season we feel like we are receiving early Christmas gifts as people come and grace us with their presence in our home. Truly a gift from God.
With Christmas right around the corner, we would like to say a very Merry Christmas to you! May your Christmas be filled with fun times of embracing the gift of people who God has put in your life and most of all, the precious gift of Jesus!
