A Weekend with a Missions Focus

Each year Impact Ministries, along with many other missions, is part of Missions Fest, a weekend dedicated to focussing on missions. This year Impact Ministries was at three of these conferences – in Vancouver, Winnipeg, and Edmonton, where we had the opportunity to tell people about our ministry in Guatemala.

Whatever the venue may be, there is value in promoting missions. As we remember the Great Commission in the Bible, we so desire to do our part in fulfilling this mandate.

This past weekend Don and I were in Edmonton, along with Dwayne and Shelly Goosen and many volunteers, and we were deeply encouraged by the many people who stopped by our Impact Ministries booth for conversation.

  • Some came by just needing to talk. We were a listening ear.
  • Others were encouraged to explore ways to be on mission and make a difference in the world, using their gifts and talents. For medical professionals, we told them about our clinic where they can serve. For high school students we encouraged them to consider a future in missions. For church leaders, we invited them to bring a team. And the list goes on.

Also, we are privileged to meet people from many other ministries and hear about how God is working around the world.

After a weekend focussed on missions, we continue to be inspired to carry on in the calling that was given to us by Jesus, to go out and make disciples. It is such a beautiful thing to be part of the bigger picture that we call “missions”.
